AARP Michigan is hosting a rally in reaction to a State Budget proposal presented by the Governor that calls for over $1 billion in tax increases on retirees, seniors and the working poor, while cutting quality-of-life programs and services by $1.2 billion and giving businesses a $1.8 billion tax cut. AARP believes this budget is an all out attack on older Michiganders. We believe what our members are getting in this plan is a much higher tax bill and reduced services. This plan would raise taxes on 1.1 million seniors in exchange for a business tax cut, while also reducing spending for public schools and universities, police and fire fighters, local road repairs and other vital programs and services. This is unfair and unacceptable!

A few important details for this event:
1. If you are taking the bus, please plan to be at the pick up locations at least 15 minutes in advance of the listed departure times. We will board the bus once it arrives and it will depart immediately following. Buses will depart from the Capitol at approximately 1:15 pm for the return trip.
2. Once you arrive at the Capitol, please check in at the AARP tables located on either side of the east steps
3. Signs are not permitted inside the Capitol Building and will have to be checked at the AARP tables
What to bring:
* Lunch, snacks, water, coffee, etc. Please bring the items you will need for this trip
* Comfortable shoes and appropriate dress for the weather
* AARP shirt or sweatshirt, if possible
* Minimal personal effects – only what will fit in your pockets if at all possible.
